Posted on 06:08 by Unknown
A long document on a computer may become difficult to read when this reading has to go for hours together or you may have pronunciation problems when you read. Apart from this, a person may be visually challenged and it may not be possible for him to read an essential document on a computer at all.

Instead of straining your eyes reading a document, you have a simple solution that comes in the form of Text to Speech tools. These are applications installed on the PC which can actually read out a text document on your computer in various voices, at varied speeds and at variety of pitch levels. For non-professional use, there are various freeware text to speech utilities available online today. A few have been reviewed below,

1.) iSpeech:

iSpeech is the best Text to Speech online utility that i have found ever, It allows you to convert text into natural human voices from a list of voices online and download them to your computer. They also have the facility of converting your uploaded documents into voices. The negative point in it is that a free account allows you to convert voices upto 1min only, However a paid account offers unlimited time.

But for your browser they have an extension by which you can select a particular text and read it aloud. For Chrome Download it from Here.

2.) Ultra Hal Text-to-Speech Reader:

Ultra Hal Text to Speech Reader is a freeware utility by Zabaware which includes high quality voices in which the text can be read. The main advantage of this program is that it can read text from a variety of sources like e-books, clipboard, documents as well as instant chat messages. Overall, it is a good application if you want proof reading of your documents. You can even save the speech in WAV format for listening later.

3.) Speakonia:

Speakonia by CFS-Technologies is another freeware text to speech utility. It comes with around 20 different voices with strong robotic accents with good punctuation. The program interface is clear and straightforward; you simply select text in any document and press Ctrl+C to read it aloud. You can easily change the pitch and speed of speech. It can read text from many sources like HTML text documents, clipboard contents and e-mails. But it's main drawback is that it cannot record speech for which you may require a third party software.

4.) SmartRead 0.80:

SmartRead 0.80 by SmartySoft is freeware text reading utility. It has clear voice support in english and chinese languages. It can start reading a document from any point randomly by placing cursor or mouse pointer anywhere in the document and is a quick and easy way for reading a document. If there is any problem in the speech engine then it has a special repair function that automatically corrects any problems in the same.

5.) Free NaturalReader 11:

NaturalReader is a text-to-speech software with natural sounding voices. This easy-to-use software can read to you any text such as Microsoft Word files, webpages, PDF files, and E-mails. NaturalReader can also convert any written text into audio files such as MP3 or WAV.

What to Look For When Buying a New Laptop

Posted on 06:03 by Unknown
Nowadays the price of laptops has gone down tremendously over the last few years. Not too long ago a decent laptop would easily have set you back a few thousand dollars. These days, you can pick up a good laptop for as low as $500.00 at your local Walmart. But with thousands of laptops to choose from, and more coming out every week, how do you pick the one that's right for you? Below are tips to help you make the right decision when looking to buy a new laptop.

1.) Determine Your Needs:

The first step in figuring out which laptop is right for you is to determine your unique needs. Most students for example would place the emphasis on price, portability, and battery life. In that situation you should look for a laptop with a 14- or 15-inch display. A larger screen means a heavier and bulkier laptop, making it more uncomfortable to carry around. Larger screens also deplete the battery at a much faster rate.

Home users on the other hand should look for laptops with much larger displays than the traditional 14- or 15-inch screens. As these systems typically stay anchored to your desk, table, or kitchen, perhaps occasionally being moved from room to room, the emphasis should be placed on improving the overall visual experience and performance. A larger number of USB ports (3-4) would also be helpful in order to plug-in, for example, a mouse, digital camera, printer, and external hard drive.

Business users often need something more rugged; able to withstand the stresses of constant travel. Because of this, a longer warranty plan is much more important. Security is also a concern so a laptop with extra security features is more ideal.

Determining your unique needs will help narrow down your choices considerably and help make the decision of which laptop to buy much easier.

2.) A Good CPU Is Key:

The CPU is the most important component of any laptop. Not cutting corners in this department is important if you want a good laptop and a good overall experience. For most users, a dual core processor is the best option. It offers excellent speed and multitasking capabilities with good power consumption. If you're planning to use your laptop to play video games, edit video, or play HD movies, it would be wise to invest in a more powerful processor such as the Intel Core i7.

Picking the right CPU can be difficult, so do research on the individual processors available to get a better idea of how they will perform with what you're intending to use the laptop for. When it comes to CPUs, you get what you pay for, so use the price as a guide to help you make the decision but keep in mind that the more powerful processors also consume more battery life as well.

3.) Memory Is Very Important:

As operating systems and programs continue to use more and more memory, this is not an area you want to overlook. If the laptop is running Windows Vista or Windows 7, then 2GB of memory or more is required for good performance. The 32-bit version of Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7, can only detect up to 4GB of memory and it's recommended that you look for a laptop with that much.

However, RAM is cheap and easy to install. You can simply buy less in the beginning and add more if you find that the performance is not adequate. Just make sure that the laptop has a slot available to upgrade. For example, a 2GB laptop with 2 DIMM slots might have two 1GB memory sticks. In that situation you would need to throw one of the memory sticks out in order to add more.

4.) Display and Graphics:

Notebooks now all feature LCD screens (Liquid Crystal Displays) presenting crisp text and reduced eyestrain. These screens display sharper text than standard CRT monitors, but are less capable of displaying well-rendered graphics. If you will be using your notebook for graphics work, it may be worthwhile having a CRT monitor to connect to. Screen sizes for notebooks range from 12.1in to 17in (widescreen). A 15in display or 15.4in widescreen alternative is the most common in notebooks today. Widescreen is quickly becoming more common, partly to accommodate playback of DVDs and also because widescreen proportions make it is more durable.

On-screen graphics are affected by both the size and type of screen as well as the graphics card. It is reasonably safe to assume that larger displays offer higher on-screen resolution. Screen brightness (measured in nits) is another specification that can vary between makes and models. Brighter screens impact less on eyes and can be more easily read in bright conditions. Some manufacturers have a glossy, reflective coating over the display improving contrast and colours. But, because it increases the reflectivity of the screen, it can show you reflected in the screen. Surface scratches may also show up more readily. Not all LCD screens have the same viewable angle, with some screens not easily viewed from a side angle.

Graphics performance in laptops is still inferior to that of desktop machines. All graphic controllers easily render 2-D images and if you don't need more from your graphics, then an integrated graphics controller is ample. However, if you want to play the latest 3-D games at a decent resolution and frame rate or you're a CAD designer, then you'll need a discreet graphics controller with a dedicated DDR video memory.

5.) Touch It Before You Buy It:

These days you tend to find the best prices and deals online. However, before you make the purchase you should try and find a store with the same laptop on display. As with most products, what you see in the advertisement and what you get can be a little different. See if you like the look, shape, and feel in real life as much as in the photos. Do the keys feel nice? Does the screen have problems with glare? Is it heavier or lighter than you expected? Does it feel solid or cheap? You won't be able to answer these questions by looking at a professionally edited advertisement picture so you need to see the product for yourself first hand whenever possible.

6.) Read Reviews Online:

This is the most important step. Whatever it is that you're looking to buy, you should always get a few opinions from other sources, and the internet is the best place to go. Read a few reviews by going to Google and typing in [laptop name] review and to see what people have to say. Check out customer reviews from the popular online computer retailers like TigerDirect.com, NewEgg.Com, NCIX.com, etc.

If the reviews give you the green light, then go ahead with the purchase. If you see warning signs then consider yourself lucky to have found out sooner rather than later, and look for something different. Finding little to no information or reviews on a specific laptop is one of the biggest warning signs of all. Unless you like to gamble with your money, you should look for a laptop with some reputation. The last thing you want to do is test out new products at your own expense.

7.) Check it's Price:

Yes, Last but not least, Checking the Laptop's price before buying offline is very essential. If you plan to buy your Laptop Online Hp Voucher Codes offer free voucher codes that can be used during checkout to get the product at reduced price. As there are chances that the shopkeeper may cheat you for his profit and also the prices of electronic items are decreasing day by day. So keep up to date with it's price. If you plan to buy Online Hp Voucher Codes offer free voucher codes that can be used during checkout to get the product for reduced price.

Improve Your Online Content With An Easy To Follow Structure

Posted on 05:25 by Unknown
 Beginning, Middle, End

Writing quality online content for your websites can be hard and somehow it often seems impossible to make it sound right.
But don't despair!  There is a simple structure you can follow to make your copy read better and easier for your visitors.

The Big Three:

In essence, giving your online copy a simple structure can set you on your way to content heaven.  This is easy to use and provides great results for minimal fuss.

  1. Introduction
  2. Main Content
  3. Conclusion
And that's it!  Your entire copy will have a beginning, middle and end.  This will help your content appear to be more professional without having an amateur feel to it - which can turn visitors off.

Is that all there is to writing?

Unfortunately, no.  Writing is a craft that requires multiple skills to achieve professional results.  It can take writers years to learn how to write to a high standard,  and there are no shortcuts.  However, this simple structure ensures you will be on the right track.

What should I write about?

Basically, anything you feel your customers/readers would be interested to read related to your business or area of expertise.  Ideas are hard to come by and require hard work to discover the ideas that will be shareable and original.

And that's the key.  Make your online content unique and original.  After all, would you want to read about what you have read a thousand times before?  Probably not.  The same is for your readers.  Keep things topical, current and intriguing.

Whatever you choose to write about, keeping it within the boundaries of a structure will ensure you keep your writing tight, progressive and it will have a purpose.

The big three is a proven method to quickly improve your content with minimal effort.

Prevention Measures Before Your Computer Gets Infected

Posted on 06:31 by Unknown
There is nothing wrong with taking less than adequate measures to prevent a bigger damage to anything you treasure if you have financial or other constraints, as long as this is done temporarily over a short time.  Similar reasoning applies when it comes to computer security threats.

Unfortunately some (if not most) computer users tend to forget this.  They search on the internet for free computer security software which they dump into their computers and hope for the best.  Most of the free software developers consistently forget to inform the downloaders of the inadequacies of their software – and they are many and significant!

A simple search for free anti-spyware programs on any search engine yields significant results.  If we exclude genuine beta-software from these results, almost all of these anti-spyware programs operate on the principle – “Get infected first, then call us”.  In other words these programs are reactive.  They scan and destroy spyware as it’s found in the user’s computer.  The real downside of these programs is that they offer no real-time protection.  Are you surprised?  Maybe you’ve forgotten that “there’s no such thing as a free lunch!”

The big computer security software developers spend millions of dollars every year developing products that can quickly detect and destroy new computer security threats like spyware, adware, viruses, hacking techniques, Trojans, worms keyloggers etc...

Do you think the developers of free computer security software inject millions of dollars in order to bring users of their software regular software updates?  I think not!

Computer security software is such a critical purchase that I think one should actually buy the software before bringing home a new PC!

The most critical software that you should have in you PC is:

1. Firewall:
To protect your PC from hackers and internal malware that maybe trying to “phone home”.

2. Spyware/Adware:
To detect the “ETs” that are “phoning home” from your PC, endangering your sensitive information such as passwords, credit card numbers and other sensitive information.  These programs also use lots of your critical computer resources.  That’s why your computer is slow and crashing lately!

3. Anti-virus Software:
These can either completely wipe out your critical data or render it or your computer useless.  The most dangerous thing is that you may end up (unaware!) being a source of the virus (e.g. through email or infected website pages).

Here are common-sense measures you can take to protect your PC:

1. E-mail – Avoid replying to chain letters.  Also be very careful of image attachment.  Hackers attach malicious JavaScript codes on these.

2. Regularly update your anti-virus definitions by running the update function of your security software.

3. Before buying a computer security software or package make sure that it offers regular updates to keep up with new viruses, adware, spyware and other computer security threats.

Final Thoughts:
I want to repeat what I said at the beginning of this article: There is nothing wrong in taking temporary security measures as far as your computer security is concerned (i.e. using free software/downloads).  What is wrong is forgetting that the measure was supposed to be over a temporary period in the first place.

Tips To Optimize Your Blog For Better SEO

Posted on 09:05 by Unknown
Search Engine Optimization uses a combination of techniques, tools, and technical know-how to get results.  Search engine optimization (SEO) is a set of methodologies aimed at improving the visibility of a website in search engine listing. Search Engine Optimization  (SEO) involves the careful optimization of corporate web sites to effectively increase their visibility in the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo, Alta-Vista,and many others. The higher a Web site ranks in the results of a search, the greater the chance that that site will be visited by a user. The higher a Web site ranks in the results of a search, the greater the chance that that site will be visited by a user.

Optimize the below three for better SEO:
  • Meta Tags
  • Navigational  links
  • Rich Content

Meta Tags:

Meta Tags are very important for your website's visibility. Many search engines read them from your site when you submit it to them .Major meta tags that you can use:

Meta Title,
The only resource type that is currently in use is "document" This is the only tag that you need to put in for indexing purposes.

Meta Description,
Depending on the search engine, this will be displayed along with the title of your page in an index. "content" could be a word, sentence or even paragraph to describe your page. Keep this reasonably short, concise and to the point.

Meta Keyword,
It is important to choose the best keyword to get on top of google. You can check our article on "Blogging Tools For Keyword Research"  for some best online tool to get the top keywords for your articles.

Navigational  links:

At the right or at the bottom, but not on the left, of the page.  When the search engines "read" your site, they read from the top left to the bottom right.  Search engines place an emphasis on the first 100 words or text on the site.  You do not want these words to be navigational links or Javascript.  Ideally, you want to have your heading tags with your keywords in the beginning of your page.  This being said, placing your links/JavaScript on the right or bottom of your page ensures the search engine spiders get to the text first, giving more weight to what's important on your page.

Rich Content:

The more content you have on your site the more likely someone is to find what they're looking for when they get there. Keep your site very content rich. Have a lot of pages.Update the site even twice a day if you have the time. Updating your site does not mean that you copy paste content from other sites. That will only push your rankings further down. Don't have any duplicate content. At the same time ,dont spam multiple content across the same website. When a search engine views or reviews a website, which they do at least every few months, it looks for specific characteristics found in the content of website landing pages.

The Three Best Website Traffic Sources

Posted on 08:00 by Unknown
Not a day goes by that any serious website owner doesn't wonder how to get more traffic to their site.

This intense desire to generate more clicks makes virtually any online entrepreneur easy prey to many of the traffic schemes and scams that pervade the Internet like conmen on a carnival midway.

Promises of fast traffic and big bucks often separate even the most savvy business person from their money because they want to believe the promises made by these traffic hucksters.

However, rather than thinking "complicated equals better" in the traffic game, the best website traffic sources rate extremely easy to separate from the useless garbage traffic.
Fact: "Good Traffic" equals "Targeted Traffic!"
That means the visitors come as a result of desire to find out more on a specific, niche topic, not as a result of "exit" traffic or membership in a "safe" list where members simply pitch each other in an incestuous spam fest.

Good traffic comes from people clicking links on topics targeted to their interests and getting directed to a website containing information they want and expect as a result of clicking the link.

Bottom line, when you get right down to it, the best, most dependable sources of targeted traffic come from links that people click.

So, next time you're considering spending money on a traffic source, understand that unless it involves a targeted link that a targeted visitor can click to get to your website, think twice before opening up your wallet.

To my knowledge, only three ways exist to get a link to your site:
  • Buy it
  • Voodoo it
  • Grow it

** Buy Links**

Buying links actually rates the fastest way to get traffic to your website.

You simply sign up for Google AdWords at Google.com or you open an account with Overture.com.

You then run ads with a link on those sites and any time someone clicks the link, you pay for the click through a relatively straightforward bidding process based on the popularity of the keyword.

You can also buy links in ezines, newsletters, and on other people's website either on a per-click basis, for a period of time (a week or month), or in exchange for paying them a commission if a sale gets made as a result of a click on the link.

** Linking "VoodDoo" **

Linking "voodoo" refers to attempting to manipulate the search engines into displaying links to your website.

You can find a large number of automated software programs online at any given time that will claim to help you get more search engine traffic.

Depending on the intensity of competition in a specific market and the fact that search engines change their rules frequently, pursuing search engine links this way can quickly turn into the online equivalent of Alice chasing the rabbit down the hole.

** Grow Links **

I personally prefer this method to get links to my websites: growing them.

The best type of link to get involves one person telling another person, either explicitly or implicitly, they should click the link and visit the site at the other end.

One way to do this is simply to exchange links with another site which targets the same audience as your site.

You can manage this process manually or use one of the many software packages that will mange the process for you.

A search on Google for "reciprocal link manager software" yields a good start.

The easiest way to grow a link is through using articles other people post on their websites which link back to your website.

The reason articles work so well for "growing" links involves the numerous ways in which articles get distributed online, each of which can create dozens, hundreds, even thousands of different links back to your website by publishing a single article.

In fact, the following represent only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all the places you can grow links by publishing articles online.

Blogs:
Your articles can not only appear on your own blog, but get posted by others on their blogs with surprising ease.

The links in these articles can point directly back to your website.

Article Directories:
Submit your articles on the Article Directories.

They not only provide an easy way to display your articles to allow others to pick them up for posting on their websites, but also in and of themselves attract readers searching for content.

OPS (Other People's Sites):
Popular websites like WebProNews.com attract repeat visitors by offering targeted content to their readers.

Since they can't produce all the content themselves, they publish articles created by others. Links from these sites can bring a steady stream of targeted visitors by giving you targeted exposure.

Ezines:
By getting your articles published in other people's ezines, you can get a link on the most valuable real estate online, a targeted prospect's email "inbox."

Many ezine publishers run articles written by others to their targeted readers, and your link in the resource box can bring you a veritable avalanche of targeted site visitors when hundreds, even thousands of people receive your article at the same time.

**Final Thoughts**

Whether you choose to buy them, "voodoo" them, or grow them, getting targeted links to your site posted on the Internet represents the absolute best way to get steady traffic to your site.

Though not as fast as buying them or as exciting as trying to manipulate the search engines, growing links with articles gives you a long-term, dependable presence online.
